The Tomb is Empty
Bible Text: Matthew 28:1-10 ESV | Pastor: Bobby Brooks | Series: Easter 2018
Usually empty things are great disappointments but in typical Jesus-fashion, God turns the norm upside down and inside out. The tomb is empty and that’s the best news possible.
Matthew’s Gospel tells us that the stone in front of Jesus’ tomb wasn’t rolled away so Jesus could leave, but so that the women who came to care for the body of Jesus could see that he was already gone – that He was alive. Jesus didn’t need the stone rolled away – the women did – we did. The empty tomb was evidence that Christ was indeed risen from the dead. Thankfully we have a God who is still in the business of rolling stones away for all who seek Jesus. May the truth of the empty tomb fill your heart with the hope of Christ’s victory over sin and death this Easter season!
