Don’t let what you have and who you are keep the world from seeing whose you are and who you’ve been with.
Peter and John have been arrested for preaching and healing in Jesus’ name. They’re jailed, mistreated and interrogated but, no matter how much the authorities press, none of this makes sense. Their boldness, confidence, conviction; none of it fits since these guys are untrained, uneducated commoners. And yet, there is one thing that makes sense of the nonsense – observers could tell that they had been with Jesus. Realizing this and seeing the man they healed standing with them, the authorities are astonished and speechless and have no choice but to set them free. Much to the dismay of the authorities however, their arrest did nothing to dissuade them from preaching Jesus. In fact it seems to have done just the opposite; their arrest sparked a fire of faithfulness that shook the ground and filled them with new life.
